Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed during his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that "nothing can hinder the development of friendly relations between Moscow and Riyadh."
"Nothing can hinder the development of our friendly relations," Putin said.
He added: "Being here in the region on a scheduled visit to the UAE, I benefited from your invitation to come and speak with you and all our friends, with whom we have worked extensively to develop our relations over the past seven years."
The Russian President pointed out that the Soviet Union was one of the first countries to recognize the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as an independent state.
He continued: “That was nearly 100 years ago,” stressing that Russia respects the will of the citizens of Saudi Arabia to build their future.
He added, "During this period, a lot has happened in our relationship. But over the past seven years, relations have gained momentum and reached an unprecedented level. This was achieved thanks to the wise policy of your father, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King of Saudi Arabia, with your direct participation."
Putin pointed out that the two countries enjoy stable relations in the field of political, economic and humanitarian cooperation.
For his part, Bin Salman stressed that cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Russia helps ensure security in the Middle East.

He continued: "We have many common interests, within which we work to achieve stability and development throughout the world and in the Middle East region."
He added: "Over the past few years, we have achieved great results in the bilateral cooperation process, including in the areas of energy, agriculture, trade, investment and other fields." Adding that the two countries have great opportunities to expand cooperation.
